Solar, wind and other forms of renewable energy are growing rapidly and have been projected to keep growing. Current tax credits, 30% for large wind, have lowered the price of wind power below the price of electricity generated from coal, and have contributed to making wind the most rapidly growing form of electric generation.

"The Republican tax bills moving through Congress could significantly hobble the United States’ renewable energy industry because of a series of provisions that scale back incentives for wind and solar power while bolstering older energy sources like oil and gas production." The House bill would also eliminate tax credits for electric vehicles and increase federal support for two nuclear plants under construction in Georgia. The senate bill would allow oil and natural gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
