Module 11 focuses on AD feedstock materials from typical farm manure and crop residuals to off-farm organics. As with all bioenergy technologies, feedstock is critical to the success of AD. Operators have to create AD diets that maximize energy while maintaining optimal ratios of carbon to nitrogen, minimizing ihibitition by toxis or complex metabolic feedback loops, ensuring the proper percentage of solids, all the while using readily available waste materials while excluding plastics and other biodegradables.
